Yorkshire Museum Image reference: YORM_TA43

Subject

Photographs from St Vincent after the 1902 eruption of La Soufriére volcano.

Description

View down into a large gully. Patches of what appear to be flat terraces of pyroclastic density current deposits are visible on the margins of the gully, between them a deeply incised channel. Gully margins above the level of the terraces are bare; the only evidence of vegetation is in the top right of the image where spindly and bare tree trunks are evident. An unidentified person stand atop the crest of a hill in the background.
