Tempest Anderson photo - River Channel near the Coast
Yorkshire Museum Image reference: YORM_TA221

Subject

Photographs from St Vincent after the 1902 eruption of La Soufriére volcano.

Description

View towards the sea along a river channel. Slide is not labelled, but given its position in the collection, this is likely the Lower Reach of the Wallibou River in 1907. The river is in flow as a meandering single-threaded stream, over a sand-boulder channel bed within a steep-sided channel. Along the channel margins: multi-level terracing is evident in parts; steep channel margin (from the right edge of the picture) is bedded. Valley margins are cliffed in parts, bedding also evident in these exposures; slopes are vegetated.
